Dell XPS M2010The new Dell XPS M2010 is a revolution: closer to a laptop than a desktop, but still unable to be fully classified into one or the other, its design is truly unique. With a fold-out 20” display which can turn 180 degrees, a detachable Bluetooth keyboard, the best components and an array of media tools such as a pop-up DVD player and built in microphone and webcam, this computer is still very expensive at a base price of $3500. The specs on this machine are truly remarkable. With a native resolution of 1680 x 1050 Dell’s quality screen reputation is upheld and the 8 speakers with a built in subwoofer create rich sound which very few laptops can imitate. The top of the line version, at a full $4675, boasts a 2.16GHz Intel Core Duo T2600 processor, 2 GB of RAM, 2 large 100GB 7200rpm hard drives and an ATI Mobility Radeon X1800 graphics card with 256mb of video memory. The base model is very average, with a 1.84GB Intel Core Duo T2400 processor, half the RAM and only an 80GB hard drive. This laptop was designed for looks rather than for superior gaming. The exterior is painted to look like leather; the black interior with chrome headlights along with blue glowing lights gives the impression of being a high-end computer, which it most definitely is. While far from the best gaming machine on the market, and very cumbersome at nearly 21 pounds when including the AC adapter, for those who have some cash to spare and wish to make their laptop look more like business class luggage than a laptop, this is the computer for you. It’s a good gaming laptop, but still relatively average in terms of specifications and with a price tag which is much greater than your average gamer would ever spend for the specs in question. |
