The Toshiba Satellite X205-S9359, recently announced new gaming laptop from Toshiba features some incredible specs. Powered by a 2.0 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor and PM965 chipset, both providing 800MHz front side bus, an increase from the 667MHz of older Satellite notebooks, the X205-S9359 is a true contender in the battle for the best value in a gaming laptop.

Featuring a GeForce 8700M GT dedicated graphics card, the X205-S9359 is compatible with DirectX 10 games and has 256MB DDR3 video memory. A pixel resolution of 1440 x 900 manages the 17” TruBrite widescreen display and has the capacity to hold up to 4 gigabytes of RAM and two SATA hard drives (one can choose from 2 x 120GB hard drives or 2x160GB hard drives). Possibly one of the most impressive features of this notebook is the HD DVD drive, coupled with an HDMI output with 1080i resolution, allowing for high definition playback on external HDTVs.

The pricier configuration includes an external HDTV tuner with a USB interface. It also has the standard VGA and S-video outputs. The 4 Harmon Kardon speakers with a subwoofer and Dolby Surround Sound technology ensure that all gamers will get a deep, realistic sound without the purchase of external speakers.

A premium computer deserves a premium operating system: depending on configuration, this laptop comes with Windows Vista Home Premium or Vista Ultimate operating system. It also features 6 USB ports, an ExpressCard slot, a 5-in-1 memory card reader, a Firewire port, integrated webcam and microphone and a fingerprint reader. The glossy, wooden-style red cover adds some class and elegance to an immensely powerful machine. Starting at just under $2000, with high-end configurations being closer to $2500, the Toshiba X205-S9359 is an excellent value, and performs exceptionally.

This is one of the newest laptops you can buy, and definitely one of the better ones. I would give this notebook a 9/10.
