Asus F3sv-A1

As a successor to the old F3j notebook product line from Asus, the F3sv-A1 operates on a new, more efficient motherboard. And just like the old F3j’s, the F3sv-A1 has all the pieces in place for a decent gaming computer system. This notebook is powered by the versatile 2.0GHz Intel Core2 Duo T7300 processor with 4MB of L2 cache and a fast 800MHz FSB. Although the 1GB of DDR2 RAM should be sufficient, there are two memory slots available to add on another 3GB of RAM for running multiple memory-intensive programs at the same time.

Gamers and video graphic artists will be glad to know that this ultimate notebook comes with an NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GS video card, with built-in 256MB VRAM (TurboCache up to 512MB w/ 1GB RAM and 1GB w/ 2GB RAM), and DirectX 10 support. You can really show off the visual delights beyond the 15.4” monitor, since the F3sv-A1 comes with both S-video and RJ45 phone cables.

Other components that you might want to amaze your friends with include the Bluetooth compatibility, and built-in 1.3 megapixel webcam, with a 240 degree swivel and bright LED lighting.

Like most of your valuable items, you would want your impressive notebook (and somewhat costly at about $1500) protected as well. Luckily, the Asus F2sv-A1 comes with a reputable Kensington lock slot, an HDD user password protection and security lock, and a biometric fingerprint reader (built-in).

Another major security featured on this notebook is the Trusted Platform Module, which can do many things such as, secure generation of cryptographic keys, limit the use of keys, and has a Hardware Random Number Generator. The Trusted Platform Module also allows for remote attestation, binding via the TPM’s endorsement key, and sealed storage by encryption.

Overall, I would give the Asus F3sv-A1 a 9/10 for its all-around capabilities and price.
